Ice blends the shadowy edges of industrial trip-hop with ferocious death-metal intensity to create its signature dub-hop sound. Justin K. Broadrick of Godflesh and Kevin Martin of God assembled the project in the early 1990s, drawing on the same core pairing that defined Techno Animal and recruiting Dave Cochrane along with Alex Buess to complete the lineup. The resulting quartet issued its first full-length effort, Under the Skin, in 1993. With Broadrick and Martin occupied by concurrent commitments to Techno Animal, Final, Godflesh, God, and additional ventures, the group issued only the remix EP Quarantine in 1995. Ice resurfaced in 1998 for its sophomore album, Bad Blood, which featured incoming drummer Lou Ciccotelli and guest contributions from Sebastian Laws and Scott Harding of New Kingdom, Blixa Bargeld, DJ Vadim, and El-P from Company Flow.
