The production duo from Germany known as Snap!, consisting of Michael Münzing and Luca Anzilotti, featured various vocalists and rappers at the forefront. Their breakthrough came internationally in 1990 via the massive hit "The Power." On this track, London-based rapper Turbo B. collaborated with his cousin Jackie Harris for the vocals, where Harris's distinctive curdling delivery stood out above Turbo B.'s straightforward rap delivery. Yet Harris departed before the song gained momentum, making way for Penny Ford, who had previously sung backgrounds with the Gap Band. By 1992, Turbo B. had also exited the lineup following the release of Snap!'s sophomore effort on Arista, The Madman's Return. His successor was Nikki Harris, another background singer who had worked with Madonna. In that same year, the group scored another major success when "Rhythm Is a Dancer" climbed to the number five position on the pop charts. Their third LP, the trance-infused Welcome to Tomorrow, came out in 1994. After disbanding in 1996 amid the issuance of the Snap! Attack compilation, the act resurfaced in 2000 with Turbo B. fronting the single "Gimme a Thrill," thereafter maintaining an active presence through occasional performances and releases of new singles along with refreshed versions of earlier material.
