Known for his flamboyant persona and Viking-like appearance, the Swedish performer Bo Martin Erik "E-Type" Eriksson stood out as a key presence in the region's club and dance circuits across the 1990s and into the early 2000s. He first gained experience behind the drum kit in the Scandinavian metal outfit Hexenhaus before taking on DJ duties at Z-TV. His initial solo outing, the 1993 single "I'm Falling," failed to connect, prompting a regrouping that paid off the next year when the Max Martin-produced track "Set the World on Fire" launched him into the Swedish scene. That song claimed the top spot on the domestic dance charts and opened the door for the follow-up single "This Is the Way." Shortly thereafter his debut album Made in Sweden arrived, reaching number two on the Swedish albums chart. Two years on came the sophomore effort The Explorer, which included the tracks "Free Like a Flying Demon" and "Calling Your Name." In 1998 he issued another full-length titled Last Man Standing, spotlighting the singles "Angels Crying" and "Here I Go Again." Two years after that he published his first book, Sveakampen, a memoir that cast the artist's circle of friends and relatives as Vikings, while his third full-length Euro IV Ever reached stores in late 2001. Loud Pipes Save Lives arrived in 2004 and featured the single "Paradise," after which the track "True Believer" entered Scandinavian rotation three years later.
