Brooklyn Bounce

Producer/DJs Matthias "Double M" Menck and Dennis Bohn first paired up in Hamburg in 1995 and quickly scored a chart entry under the Boyz R Us name with “Singin’ in My Mind.” That early release pointed toward broader ambitions, which they realized two years later when they launched Brooklyn Bounce, an unusually image-driven dance project fronted by the theatrical vocalists and dancers Alex, Ulrika, and Diablo. The outfit’s breakthrough came with “The Theme (Of Progressive Attack),” which dominated German club playlists before crossing over to mainstream audiences in France, Scandinavia, and Germany itself. Buoyed by that momentum, the duo issued their debut album In the Beginning and continued releasing further singles and LPs, even as shifting musical fashions proved increasingly difficult to navigate.
