Biography
In 2003, students attending Oslo's Norwegian Academy of Music formed the experimental piano trio In the Country, whose sound fuses jazz, classical, and rock. Pianist Morten Qvenild, bassist Roger Arntzen, and drummer Pål Hausken comprise the group, which issued its first album, This Was the Pace of My Heartbeat, on Rune Grammofon in 2005. One year afterward, the trio put out its second release, Losing Stones, Collecting Bones, with Swedish vocalist Stefan Sundström and guitarist Marc Ribot appearing as guests.
