Biography
Inkubus Sukkubus weave fresh rhythmic patterns and dynamic arrangements drawn from gothic rock traditions alongside enchanted lyricism, while also channeling an array of additional sources that stretch from the Sisters of Mercy’s sonic approach to the Rolling Stones’ inventive output. Anchored in pagan themes and esoteric imagery, the group formed in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, U.K., during 1989. Its roster features vocalist Candia Ridley alongside Tony McKormack on guitar and programming, bassist Adam Henderson, and Mick Egan. After performing throughout nearby venues in the ensuing period, the musicians committed to capturing their debut album in 1992, resulting in the arrival of Belladonna and Aconite that year. The second long-player, Wytches, followed in 1994 and preceded a broad touring schedule that placed the band in headline slots supporting acts including Nosferatu, Clawfinger, and the Mission. Their third release, Heartbeat of the Earth, emerged in 1996 and led to another extensive trek spanning the European continent. Issued in 1997, the fourth album Vampyre Erotica preceded Away With the Faeries by a single year. The British ensemble unveiled its sixth studio album, Supernatural, in 2001.
