Biography
James Kochalka, working across art, writing, and music, has produced playful yet subversive portrayals of ordinary routines that earned him a modest yet fiercely loyal niche audience. Born in Vermont, the creator has sidestepped mainstream attention even after releasing multiple prize-winning graphic novels including Peanut Butter & Jeremy's Best Book Ever! and The Horrible Truth About Comics, the art volume Sunburn, short animations for Nickelodeon, and seven elusive albums. Once signed to Rykodisc, the 25-track compilation Our Most Beloved, bundled with an extra DVD of videos, artwork, and conversations, reached stores in 2005. Spread Your Evil Wings and Fly followed in fall 2006.
