Blending folk, pop, and jazz, Jenna Mammina shapes her vocals through a gentle tone, subtle improvisation, and a consistent capacity to leave listeners uplifted. Beginning at age five, she sang in church, participated in school musicals, worked with local bands, studied piano and guitar, and regularly performed alongside family members. She pursued studies at Central Michigan University, Michigan State University, and Laney College in Oakland before settling in the San Francisco Bay area. As of this writing, Mammina has released five CDs, every one issued on her Mamma Grace label. Her material stretches from Abbey Lincoln to Elvis Costello and regularly spotlights guitarist Andre Bush. She has shared stages with Bobby McFerrin, Bobby Watson, Nancy King, Andy Narell, and Steve Coleman, logging as many as 250 performances in certain years. Mammina also serves as a music educator, presenting the programs Scat for Cats and So You Want to Be a Rock and Roll Star.
