Jeri Brown

Emerging during the 1990s as one of jazz’s most promising new voices, Montreal-based Jeri Brown grew up amid a family of instrumentalists, with her grandfather on saxophone and her uncle playing trumpet. She spent her early years in St. Louis, earned a college degree, and first performed light opera and spirituals across Europe before turning her attention to jazz. Praised for both her scat technique and her sensitive phrasing of lyrics, she has released multiple standout recordings on the Justin Time label.
