Biography
Though not widely celebrated as she should be, Roseanna Vitro stood out among jazz vocalists of the 1990s and 2000s thanks to her broad adaptability, innate rhythmic feel, and warmly engaging vocal presence. She launched her professional path in Houston during the mid-1970s, when her repertoire still centered on blues and rock, and she maintained a two-year residency at the Green Room while also presenting a weekly live radio program. Not long after relocating to New York in 1980, she began collaborating with Lionel Hampton. Roseanna Vitro, who persistently ventures into vivid and daring territory with her phrasing, has issued recordings on the modest Texas Rose Music and Skyline imprints along with Chase Music Group, Concord, Telarc, and A. Greater recognition has long been due for the depth of her abilities.
