Biography
The roots rock outfit Joe d'Urso & Stone Caravan, headquartered in New York, launched its energetic performances during the first half of the 1990s, producing a gritty, high-volume sound reminiscent of American peers John Mellencamp, Tom Petty, and Bob Dylan. Before fronting his own rock project, D'Urso worked as a booking agent in the music business and has earned praise for his heartfelt songcraft and sincere stage presence rooted in genuine enthusiasm for the craft. The group put out its first album, Rock-Land, on an independent label in 1993. Three years afterward came Mirrors, Shoestrings & Credit Cards, an effort that secured support slots alongside Big Head Todd & the Monsters, Wilco, Joan Osborne, the Allman Brothers, and Bruce Springsteen. Joe d'Urso & Stone Caravan inked a deal with Capitol/Right Stuff in 1998 and delivered its next record, Glow, the following year. Rock and Roll Station appeared twelve months after that.
