Biography
John Elefante launched his professional path as a singer, songwriter, and producer in 1981. Following Steve Walsh’s exit from the rock band Kansas, Elefante tried out for the lead-vocal position and was selected. Joining the group also resulted in all four tracks from his demo tape appearing on Kansas’s next release. During the four years he spent with the band, Elefante performed on the albums Vinyl Confessions and Drastic Measures while logging three years of touring. Since leaving Kansas, Elefante and his brother Dino have produced numerous projects for other artists, including Petra, Greg Long, and Scott Fairclough. The siblings also jointly own the Nashville recording facility known as The Sound Kitchen. In addition to his production work, John Elefante has composed many songs and issued the solo albums Windows of Heaven, Corridors, and Defying Gravity.
