Born Jesper Dahl on June 13, 1973, in Copenhagen’s Nørrebro district, Jokeren is a Danish rapper who initiated an independent trajectory in 2003 and subsequently maintained a string of consistent Top Ten placements. He first entered recording during the 1990s as one of two core members of the Danish rap outfit Den Gale Pose alongside Blæs Bukki, born Lasse Bavngaard. Between the mid-1990s and the early 2000s the group issued the albums Mod Rov (1996), Sådan Er Reglerne (1998), and Definitionen Af En Stodder (2001) together with a series of singles. Jokeren’s solo debut arrived in 2003 with the EMI release Alpha Han, which climbed to number three on the Danish albums chart and contained the Top Ten single “Det Ku Ha Været Dig.” Building on that momentum he established his own imprint, Flamingo Records, in tandem with Universal Music and delivered the 2005 follow-up Gigolo Jesus, another Top Ten album that yielded the single “Rastløs.” His third album, Den Tørstige Digter, appeared in 2009 and likewise reached the Top Ten, while the singles “Gå Væk!” (featuring Blæs Bukki) and “Sig Ja” also achieved Top Ten positions.
