Biography
Born Johan Forsby, Danish rapper Jooks reached his solo album debut in 2009 at roughly the same moment his lead single "Hun Vil Ha' en Rapper" reached the top of the national charts. He had launched his recording career earlier as one of six members in the group Rent Mel, also known as Rent Mel I Posen, whose lineup included Atilla, Mundi, Tegnedrengen, Hennesey, and Møller. The ensemble issued its first album, Langt Om Længe, in 1999 and returned five years later with Ingen Stress on Cope Records. Jooks moved toward an independent profile through guest spots on Niarn’s Glenn Francisco (2002) and Troo.L.S. & Orgi-E’s Forklædt Som Voksen (2005). Those links to established Danish rap acts secured him a solo deal with the ArtPeople label, where he first appeared commercially in 2008 on the single "Træk Vejret." The follow-up, "Hun Vil Ha' en Rapper," topped the Danish singles chart the next year and directly preceded the release of his album Privilegeret.
