Born as Jose Menese Scott, the vocalist Jose Menese ranks among flamenco music's most outstanding singers. Even after surpassing three and a half decades since his first recording, backed by guitarist Melchor de Marchena in 1963, he sustains an output of passionate and sensual expression through his ethereal vocals. Originating from the small Seville town of La Puebla de Cazalla, he initiated his professional path upon relocating to Madrid during the closing years of the 1950s. Through regular evening appearances at the renowned Tablao Zambra nightclub, he honed his abilities sufficiently to earn the esteemed "tomas el nitri" prize during the 1965 Flamenco Art National Contest. His engagements throughout the 1970s took him across Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Portugal, and France, culminating in the capture of a live recording at Olympia de Paris during November 1974.
