Biography
Kaya Yanar entered the world on May 10, 1973, in Frankfurt am Main as the son of Turkish immigrants. Recognition came chiefly in Germany through a solo stage act that lampoons native prejudices against people of Mediterranean origin. The production, titled Was Guckst Du?, enjoyed strong television ratings and later appeared across multiple DVD volumes. Over his career the comedian issued three albums: Suchst Du in 2001, Welttournee durch Deutschland in 2003, and Made In Germany in 2008. Announcements in 2006 indicated the series would end so Yanar could shift attention to feature films.
