Dieter Nuhr

Dieter Nuhr, a German comedian and cabaret performer who previously worked in visual art, first took to stages across Germany in 1987. He turned professional in 1992, committing full-time once he set aside his earlier artistic practice. His initial album, Nuhr am Nörgeln, arrived in 1994, and a series of television appearances soon helped establish his reputation for acerbic, wiseacre humor. Later releases followed with Nuhr Weiter So in 1996, Nuhr Nach Vorn in 1998, www.nuhr.de in 2000, www.nuhr.de/2 in 2002, and Ich Bin's Nuhr in 2004. Each title functions as a wordplay on his name, which echoes the German word “nur” for “just” or “only,” a pattern continued by the 2007 album Nuhr die Wahrheit.
