Stoppok

Stoppok, the German ensemble blending folk, blues, and rock traditions and taking its name directly from frontman Stefan, came together in 1982 under that same leader’s direction. Born February 21, 1956, in Hamburn, Stefan had already issued early recordings with the England-based outfit Stenderband before assembling his new group. The band’s first album, Saure Drops und Schokoroll (Acid Drops and Chocolate Roll), appeared the same year and marked the opening chapter of a catalog that would continue growing for more than a quarter century. Within that stretch a career-spanning best-of collection surfaced in 1996, while two purely instrumental albums were also completed. Still active, Stoppok delivered another studio effort, the full-length Sensationsstrom, in 2008.
