Biography
Born in Köhlen in 1965, German cabaret diva Ina Müller grew up in a large farming family yet gravitated toward the arts. In 1994 she joined forces with fellow singer Edda Schnittgard to establish the musical theater duo Queen Bee, a collaboration that lasted more than ten years and produced several LPs, among them 1996’s Die Eine Singt, Die Andere Auch and 2000’s Freundinnen.... At the same time Müller developed independent projects, composing books and songs rooted in the Plattdeutsche traditions of northern Germany. After Queen Bee disbanded in December 2005 she premiered the solo cabaret program Ina Müller Liest und Singt op Platt. One year later came her debut solo LP, Weiblich Ledig 40. While building her individual career she also became a regular presence on German radio and television, fronting various chat and variety shows that established her as a household name at home. Even with those broadcast commitments she maintained a steady recording schedule, releasing three studio albums and one live set between 2008 and 2012, most of which achieved gold or platinum status. The 2013 album 48—issued when Müller was that age—proved another commercial hit, climbing to number three on the German charts. After the 2014 concert recording 48 Live, the effervescent performer returned in 2016 with Ich Bin Die, an eclectic set blending rock, pop, chanson, and country.
