The dance-pop outfit Frida Gold draws a devoted German following under the leadership of part-time model Alina Süggeler. Roots of the group lie in Hattingen, where Süggeler and guitarist Julian Cassel first met during high school. Their earlier stint together in the local band Amnesia led them to launch Linarockt, a guitar-driven rock project completed by drummer Thomas Holtgreve. Linarockt later transformed into Frida Gold, incorporating bassist Andreas "Andi" Weizel and trading its rock edge for a bright, danceable pop approach. A contract with Warner Music followed, yielding the 2010 debut single "Zeig Mir Wie Du Tanzt." Although the track entered the German Top 40, helped by placement in a cell phone commercial, the subsequent singles "Wovon Sollen Wir Träumen" and the gold-certified "Unsere Liebe Ist aus Gold" climbed even higher. These successes cemented Frida Gold as one of Germany’s leading pop acts and built strong demand for a full-length debut. Juwel surfaced in April 2011, with the band warming up audiences for Kylie Minogue on several shows. Recording for the next album took the members to Los Angeles, resulting in 2013’s Liebe Ist Meine Religion. That release contained the breakout single "Love Is My Rebellion," which reached number four in Germany and later received gold certification.
