Tim Bendzko

Born in Berlin in 1985, the German guitarist, singer, and songwriter Tim Bendzko passed his early years immersed in sports while pursuing studies in Protestant theology and non-Christian religions, only later picking up the guitar during his late teens. Victory in a 2009 talent competition at the Berlin Waldbühne convinced him to devote himself exclusively to music, which quickly yielded a Sony recording contract and the June 2011 release of his debut album, Wenn Worte Meine Sprache Wären. Capitalizing on that breakthrough, Bendzko issued the 2012 singles “Ich Laufe” and “Sag Einfach Ja,” then delivered his second album, Am Seidenen Faden, in 2013; the project reached the top of the German charts. Before the year ended he also unveiled the non-album single “Unter die Haut,” featuring Cassandra Steen.
