From Copenhagen’s self-governing district of Christiania, Lukas Graham Forchhammer leads his namesake ensemble through a blend of funky pop and R&B. His warm, confessional voice and candid songwriting trace stories of domestic tension, youthful missteps, and life-affirming moments, all rooted in the neighborhood where he came of age. The band’s second self-titled release—commonly called the Blue Album—introduced “7 Years,” a single that topped charts in seven nations during 2015 while stalling just short of the summit on U.S. lists. Their more pop-oriented third album, simply titled 3, followed in 2018 and was soon joined by standalone tracks and guest appearances, among them the 2021 chart-topper “No Evil” alongside Branco. Continuing their numeric sequence, the fourth album, 4, surfaced in 2023.

Graham’s early listening stretched from classical repertoire absorbed as a member of the Copenhagen Boys’ Choir to the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Prodigy, and Dr. Dre, whose album Chronic 2001 left a lasting mark. Though his upbringing lacked material comfort, both parents served as steady examples, and that affection surfaces in such unguarded songs as “Mama Said” and “Moving Alone.” His debut self-titled album appeared in early 2012, featuring the European hit “Drunk in the Morning.” Growing international attention prompted a 2013 deal with Warner Bros. The second self-titled project, again nicknamed the Blue Album, arrived late in 2015 and carried “7 Years” to eighteen weeks at number one on the Danish charts plus a peak of number two on the Billboard Hot 100. In September 2018 the group offered the soulful single “Love Someone,” which anchored the aptly numbered third album, 3. Crafted by producers Rissi and Pilo and known informally as the Purple Album, the set reflected the band’s navigation of sudden fame through textures recalling Keane, the Script, Ed Sheeran, and Maroon 5. The stand-alone 2019 release “Lie” examined a turbulent teenage romance. Early 2020 brought “Scars,” “Share That Love,” and “Love Songs,” while 2021 added “Happy for You,” “No Evil,” and “Too Late.” “All of It All,” issued in 2022, reached the Danish top thirty before joining the band’s fourth album, 4—also referred to as the Pink Album—released the following year.
