Biography
Hailing from Germany, Philipp Poisel stands out as a talented singer and songwriter specializing in emotive acoustic pop. Born on June 18, 1983, in Ludwigsburg, Germany, he took up drums and guitar during his early years, and by his teenage period he had started composing original material. Following his high school completion, he sought admission to a music education program but failed the required audition. Undaunted by this setback, he journeyed across Europe and performed as a street musician while in Scandinavia. Around 2006 he returned to Germany and connected with producer Frank Pilsl, resulting in his initial demo recordings. Herbert Grönemeyer discovered Poisel in 2007 and offered him a contract with the Grönland label the following January. Seven months afterward, the debut album Wo Fängt Dein Himmel An? appeared, its title track issued as the lead single and peaking at number 77 on the German charts.

Issued in August 2010, it climbed to number eight on the German album charts and earned gold certification within three months. In 2011 he supplied the song “Eiserner Steg” for the soundtrack of Matthias Schweighöfer’s successful comedy What a Man. The live release Projekt Seerosenteich arrived in 2012 and likewise attained gold status. Poisel issued his third studio album, Mein Amerika, in 2017; it featured the single “Zum Ersten Mal Nintendo.”
