Silbermond

German rock band Silbermond came together in 2002, built around vocalist Stefanie Kloß, brothers Johannes Stolle on bass and Thomas Stolle on guitar and piano, plus drummer Andreas Nowak. A prominent January 2004 support slot for singer Jeanette Biedermann created intense anticipation for the quartet’s first album, Verschwende Deine Zeit, and the record fulfilled those hopes by achieving quintuple-platinum status thanks to the Top Five hit “Symphonie.” On July 2, 2005, the group took the Berlin stage at the global Live8 event. Their second album, Laut Gedacht, arrived in spring 2006 and entered the German and Austrian charts at number one, also delivering Silbermond’s first chart-topping single, “Das Beste.” The band’s third album, Nichts Passiert (Nothing Happens), surfaced in 2009 and likewise debuted at the summit of the German, Austrian, and Swiss album rankings; that year Silbermond received the Best German Act prize at the MTV Europe Music Awards. Fourth album Himmel Auf appeared in early 2012, introduced by its title track as the lead single. In 2014 the group released its first compilation, Alles auf Anfang 2014-2004, before unveiling the eagerly awaited fifth studio set, Leichtes Gepäck (Light Baggage), the following year.
