Biography
Originating from Iserlohn, Germany, the mixed-gender rock outfit Luxuslärm first assembled when its five founding members—Janine Meyer, Henrik Oberbossel, David Rempel, Eugene Urlacher, and Jan Zimmer—joined forces in 2003. Performing at the time under the name Blue Cinnamon, the group concentrated on covers and worked the club circuit throughout North Rhine-Westphalia. A local producer’s suggestion that they shift to original material prompted a name change in 2006, after which the band adopted a blend of pop and alternative rock anchored by Meyer’s dramatic vocals. Their new direction surfaced on the debut album 1000 KM bis zum Meer, which earned widespread popularity and multiple German awards. The follow-up, So Laut Ich Kann!, arrived in 2010. One year later Carousel entered the marketplace, reaching number six on the German charts while introducing a reshaped roster that retained Meyer and Zimmer alongside bassist David Müller, keyboardist Christian Besch, and guitarist Freddy Hau.
