Biography
In 2002 the German indie rock outfit Jupiter Jones assembled around singer/guitarist Nicholas Müller, guitarist Sascha Owner, bassist Michael Stadtfeld and drummer Marco Hontheim. An early demo earned the Eifel-based quartet swift attention, resulting in club dates across Germany and support slots alongside the Donots and Muff Potter. Their debut full-length, Raum um Raum, surfaced in 2004; shortly afterward Michael Stadtfeld exited and Klaus Hoffmann assumed the bass chair. Refining an intelligent, upbeat approach, the group issued its second studio set, Entweder Geht Diese Scheussliche Tapete -- Oder Ich, in 2007. The following year brought the acoustic live album and DVD Leise, succeeded by the third studio effort Holiday in Catatonia. Andreas Becker then replaced Klaus Hoffmann on bass, and in 2010 Jupiter Jones signed with Columbia Berlin, delivering a self-titled major-label debut that reached number 14 on the German charts. The single “Still” climbed into the Top Ten in both Germany and Austria and captured the Echo Award for Song of the Year in 2012. Jupiter Jones resurfaced in 2013 with their second Columbia album, Gegenteil von Allem.
