Biography
Ken Camden, the Chicago-rooted spectral wanderer, launched his career in the 1990s by handling guitar duties in outfits including Arco Flute Foundation, Meisha, and ultimately the Implodes Sound Quartet (widely shortened to Implodes). Blending his singular guitar approach with stacked synthesizer layers that frequently mimic sitars, his instrumental solo output yields drone-centered electronica echoing the earliest beat-free Krautrock forays of Cluster, Neu!, and Ash Ra Tempel, together with the luminous, tuneful computer pieces of Laurie Spiegel. Issued by Kranky in 2010, his opening solo effort Lethargy & Repercussion preceded the densely cosmic Space Mirror, which surfaced in 2013. Camden’s astral progression advanced further in 2015 with the arrival of his third solo album, Dream Memory.
