Biography
Kerstin Blodig has established herself as an experienced figure within the international folk music community. She obtained qualifications in musicology while studying in Berlin and Bergen, during which she also acquired proficiency on multiple stringed instruments en route to completing her degree in Scandinavian language and culture. Prior to focusing more intently on folk projects, she participated in theatrical productions and contributed vocal performances to various studio recordings. Her explorations in this genre have included German folk-pop material as well as performances alongside the ensemble Touchwood. Independently, she issued the album Valivann through Alula in 2002, followed in early 2003 by Kelpie, which merges Celtic and Scandinavian traditions and features collaboration with Ian Melrose of Clannad.
