Biography
Born on October 10, 1966, in Memphis, dance-pop singer Kevin Paige grew up as the youngest of nine children to a father who had performed as a radio singer for NBC in the 1940s. While still in high school he collected consecutive All-State honors as a drummer, then spent time performing with several Memphis-area groups such as the Press, Xavion, and Finger Print. He eventually launched a solo career, securing a contract with Chrysalis that yielded his self-titled debut album in 1989. Two tracks from the record, “Don’t Shut Me Out” and “Anything I Want,” reached the Top 40 and helped him secure an opening slot on Debbie Gibson’s world tour. Although Chrysalis never issued a follow-up project, Paige continued to appear regularly on the Memphis club circuit in subsequent years.
