Kiko Zambianchi began performing music at thirteen inside a Protestant church in his hometown. Prompted to pursue cultural outlets, he joined amateur festivals and stage productions through age fifteen. He soon launched independent concerts and assembled the rock outfit Vida de Rua, only to leave the group later when he redirected his work toward MPB. At twenty-one he settled in São Paulo, where he cut his debut single “Rolam as Pedras” less than a month after arriving. His first solo album, Choque, appeared on EMI in 1985 and yielded hits with its title track, “Rolam as Pedras,” and “Chove.” That same year Marina Lima recorded “Eu Te Amo Você.” The 1986 release Quadro Vivo placed “Alguém” on the soundtrack of TV Globo’s telenovela Roda de Fogo, securing Zambianchi nationwide attention. He returned to national prominence in 1990 with Rossini Pinto’s Brazilian adaptation of the Beatles’ “Hey Jude,” featured in the soap opera Top Model. Simony re-recorded “Primeiros Erros” in 1995.
