kiyo

The electronic project Kiyo originates from Kiyoshi Ono, who entered the world on July 5, 1966, in Japan. Formative influences ranged from new wave and punk rock to the unsettling cinematic realm of director David Lynch. His initial outing consisted of a lone contribution issued under his given name on the 2000 Merck anthology Aurora. In 2002 an unmarked parcel containing a demo tape reached Schematic Records, accompanied by the handwritten note "Enjoy warm music from Japan." The material proved to be Kiyo's, prompting the label to feature two selections on its 2003 compilation Well Suited for General-Purpose Audio Work. That same year Schematic also issued his first full-length album, Chaotech Odd Echo.
