Established in 2019 by K.K. Downing, the former Judas Priest six-stringer, KK's Priest functions as a hard rock supergroup. Its roster includes Downing alongside Tim "Ripper" Owens on vocals and Les Binks on drums—both ex-Judas Priest members—guitarist A.J. Mills of Hostile, and bassist Tony Newton from Voodoo Six.

Downing served in the foundational NWOBHM outfit Judas Priest between 1970 and 2011. After exiting the group he opted for a period outside the public eye to complete his autobiography, Heavy Duty: Days and Nights in Judas Priest, which surfaced in 2018 and led directly to the creation of KK's Priest the following year.

Recapturing the sonic force, velocity, and approach of his original band's peak period, the ensemble debuted with the thrash-fueled single "Hellfire Thunderbolt" in early 2021. Their first album, Sermons of the Sinner, followed later that year, landing at number four on Billboard's Heatseekers chart and registering across multiple European territories.

With that foundation secured, KK's Priest reentered the studio for the subsequent record. Downing handled production while Danish metal specialist Jacob Hansen managed the mix; the lead single "One More Shot at Glory" emerged in June 2023 ahead of the full release of Sinner Rides Again.
