Biography
Inspired by Kraftwerk, the Danish quartet Kraftwelt adopted its name as a tribute to that pioneering act, though the group’s approach aligns more closely with the electronic sounds and trip-hop textures of the 1990s. Also recording under the name Audio Science, Kraftwelt signed with the U.S. industrial label Cleopatra in 1996. The deal yielded the Deranged in Space EP that July and the full-length debut Electric Dimension later the same year. Kraftwelt is additionally featured on the triple-disc compilation Space Box alongside Cluster, Faust, Popol Vuh, and Hawkwind.
