Kris Wu

Chinese-Canadian performer Kris Wu first rose to prominence through membership in the South Korean K-pop act EXO. Born Wu Yifan in Guangdong province, he relocated at age ten with his mother to Vancouver, British Columbia. His professional path opened in 2007 after he passed S.M. Entertainment’s Canadian Global Auditions, entered its trainee program, and moved to South Korea. He entered EXO in 2012; the group achieved massive success with the million-selling album XOXO. Wu’s screen career launched with Somewhere Only We Know and continued through leading roles in the commercial hits Mr. Six and Sweet Sixteen, the latter also featuring his original songs. In 2017 he made his Hollywood debut in XXX: Return of Xander Cage. That year he pivoted toward hip-hop, enlisting Travis Scott on the trap single “Deserve.” The following year he released “Like That” and joined 88Rising for “18,” which also included Rich Brian, Joji, Trippie Redd, and Baauer. His debut album Antares arrived late in 2018, carrying the same trap aesthetic and additional appearances from Rich the Kid and Jhené Aiko; it entered the Billboard 200 at number 100.
