Biography
Formed in Ghent, Belgium, the English-language jazz-pop ensemble Lady Linn and Her Magnificent Seven first gained widespread attention with the Top Ten success of their 2008 debut album of original material, Here We Go Again, following years spent interpreting classic jazz repertoire. Fronted by vocalist Lady Linn, born Lien de Greef, who also performs with the Belgian groups Bolchi and Skeemz, the lineup further includes Marc de Maeseneer on baritone sax, Frederick Heirman on trombone, Tom Callens on tenor saxophone, Yves Fernandez on trumpet, Christian Mendoza on piano, Koen Kimpe on double bass, and Matthias Standaert on drums. After issuing a pair of self-titled underground recordings in 2003 and 2005, the group delivered the 2006 single Shopping via Zephyrus Records; Lady Linn wrote, composed, and arranged its title track, marking the ensemble’s first original song. They next recorded the full-length Here We Go Again (2008) with producer Jeroen de Pessemier, a Bolchi colleague of Lady Linn’s, and the album appeared on V2 Records to reach the Belgian Top Ten.
