Biography
Larry Stewart, best recognized as the lead vocalist of Restless Heart, arrived in Nashville aiming for a baseball career rather than one in music. Awarded an athletic scholarship to Belmont College in Nashville, he soon found the music industry more compelling and chose instead to launch a performing career. After holding a string of entry-level music-business positions, his singing on demo recordings earned him the frontman role in Restless Heart. Upon exiting the group, Stewart released his first solo album, Down the Road, in 1993. Heart Like a Hurricane appeared the next year, followed by Why Can't You in 1996. Although his earlier records typically featured one or two conventional pop numbers, Learning to Breathe in 1999 signaled a stronger shift in that direction.
