Biography
Québecois comedy duo Les Grandes Gueules paired José Gaudet with Mario Tessier after their partnership began in 1992. The pair rapidly established themselves as Montreal radio staples through an assortment of newly devised characters together with expansive parodies of regional politicians and public figures, then released their initial sketch comedy LP, Les Grandes Gueules, Vol. 94.3, in 1996. Their debut concert tour, titled "Les Grandes Gueules -- Le Show," took place in 2000 and drew more than 100,000 spectators overall, later producing a live DVD in 2002. Record audiences also tuned in to the duo’s Radio Énergie network program, which earned the Association Canadienne des Radiodiffuseurs’ Ruban d’Or award for Canada’s top French-language humor broadcast across three successive years. Les Grandes Gueules further secured the Félix Award for Best Comedy Album with Le Disque in 2003, Poursuite in 2004, and Live in 2005. In November 2006, Gaudet and Tessier disclosed their intention to conclude the radio series the following May in order to explore new creative directions.
