Loopy

Rapper and vocalist Loopy entered the world as Lee Jinyong in 1987 and passed his early years in Seoul before moving to Los Angeles as an adult with the aim of building a music career. There he experimented with various artistic directions until settling on the Loopy name around 2015, at which point he established the MKIT RAIN imprint the following year. Through the label he assembled a roster of Korean rappers whose sound drew on North American rap production techniques, while simultaneously issuing a steady stream of his own projects, among them the 2020 studio album NO FEAR.

Prior to that full-length, he had already dropped the 2015 mixtape King Loopy and the 2017 follow-up ICE. His appearance as a contestant on the South Korean television rap showcase Show Me the Money 777 widened his audience considerably. Subsequent output included the 2018 mixtape QUESTIONS and, two years later, NO FEAR, whose guest roster encompassed Paloalto, CHANGMO, pH-1, BLOO, Owen, and Yerin Baek.
