Lucho Gatica

Born in Rancagua as the younger brother of Chilean vocalist Arturo Gatica, Lucho Gatica emerged as a leading Latin singer throughout the 1950s and 1960s. More than 22 million copies of his recordings had been sold by 1966. Alongside the chart-topping 1954 single “Sinceridad,” he released other successful tracks such as “Contigo en la Distancia,” “La Barca,” “Las Muchachas de la Plaza España,” and “Señor Amor.” Although his birthplace was Rancagua, his greatest achievements came after he settled in Santiago. Mexico City was the site of his death in 2018, when he was 90.
