From his base in Norfolk, England, producer Luke Abbott specializes in hypnotic, kinetic electronic music with a strangely vintage character, shaped by Krautrock pioneers Cluster, Harmonia, and Neu! as well as present-day counterparts Nathan Fake and Boards of Canada. Working exclusively in his home studio with vintage gear, he achieves a distinctive warmth and immediate appeal. Output Recordings, a respected imprint, issued his debut single in 2006, the track 'B'B'B'B'B'B'B'B'B'B'B'B'B'B'B'B', which became the label’s final vinyl pressing. Trash Aesthetics followed later that year with a limited-edition 7" of the Projections single. Abbott began developing a full-length album in 2007, then affiliated with the regional Border Community label—shared with Nathan Fake and James Holden—before delivering the Tuesday EP in 2008. After the 2009 Whitebox Stereo EP clarified the integration of his influences, he completed the project in earnest. The resulting 2010 album Holkham Drones, titled after a nearby beach, earned widespread praise for its balance of expansive drones and intricate textures. Trans Forest Alignment, one of the record’s key pieces, anchored a 2011 EP.
