Around the dawn of the 1990s the alternative pop/rock outfit Made came together in Toronto, Canada. Its original lineup featured Jason Taylor on lead vocals and guitar, Simon Bedford-James on guitar, Alison McLean on drums, and John Bowker on bass. Maintaining a steady bassist proved difficult; Bowker soon gave way to Scott Fairbrother, who was himself succeeded by Frank Guidoccio. All four musicians contributed backing vocals and arrived with considerable prior experience.

By 1994 Made had established itself on Toronto’s club circuit, where word-of-mouth enthusiasm quickly generated a loyal audience. That same year the band self-released two independent albums, Rumball and Big Bother. Although the recordings left the group heavily in debt, they also secured a contract with Universal Records. Three years passed before Bedazzler finally appeared, after which the lead single “Hairdown” was issued alongside a music video. Additional tracks from the band’s catalog include “Smudge,” “Hippies,” “Half an Hour,” “Joanne,” and “On Fire.”
