Biography
Sarina Paris, a Canadian singer and songwriter in the dance-pop vein, entered the world and came of age inside an Italian working-class family. Exposure to Lionel Richie's Can't Slow Down sparked her interest in pop music, leading her to relocate to Italy in 1996 for a children's project titled Gam Gam. There she soon encountered EMI executives who offered her a contract, resulting in the release of the club and dance single Look At Us. Once the track began rising on U.S. charts, she began performing throughout the regional club circuit and signed with Playland/Priority Records to record her self-titled debut album, which contained both new material and a version of Cyndi Lauper's "True Colors." The year 2001 brought a Juno Award nomination, an honor regarded as Canada's equivalent of the Grammy.
