Loona

Marie Jose Van der Kolk, known professionally as Loona, has earned acclaim as a Dutch pop singer and dancer whose vibrant, dancefloor-driven style draws from EDM and Latin pop traditions. Mainstream recognition arrived once she partnered with the Spanish disc jockey and producer DJ Sammy, resulting in the gold- and platinum-certified singles "Bailando" and "Hijo de la Luna," both featured on her debut album Lunita, which appeared in 1999. Following the 2005 release of Wind of Time, Loona ended her association with DJ Sammy yet sustained chart dominance in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland throughout the 2010s and afterward via well-received projects such as the 2013 single Rakatakata (Un Rayo de Sol) and the 2016 track Badam. Marking thirty years in the industry during 2020, she issued the retrospective compilation Stars.
