Following Aqua's surprising American breakthrough in 1997, major labels began championing an array of fresh Europop acts. Denmark-based Daze stood among them. The project was fronted by vocalist Trine Bix and steered by songwriters and keyboardists Sieber and J.T. Its debut single, "Superhero," issued in fall 1997, registered a major Scandinavian success, while the accompanying album Super Heroes climbed to number one in Denmark and number three across the region. In spring 1998 the record earned the Danish Grammy equivalent honor for Best Dance Album of the Year. Bolstered by that continental momentum, Columbia inked the group and issued Super Heroes domestically in summer 1998.
