Makar

February 2000 saw Makar come into being when the husband-and-wife pair of singer/pianist Mark Purnell and singer/guitarist Andrea DeAngelis chose to assemble a folk group intent on confronting the societal wrongs they observed nearby. Vincente Viray (singer/guitarist) and Daniel Coates (bassist/guitarist) joined the roster in 2001, at which point the 99-cent Dream EP appeared. An expanded full-length edition of 99-cent Dream followed in 2005, succeeded by Funeral Genius in 2011.
