Meathook Seed emerged as an occasional industrial-tinged death metal endeavor led by Napalm Death guitarist Mitch Harris, issuing two albums spaced across the decade. Embedded, the debut, surfaced in 1992 with Harris handling guitars alongside programming duties while enlisting Obituary’s Donald Tardy on drums and Trevor Peres on vocals; the resulting blend fused death, hardcore, and industrial textures, drawing partial influence from Godflesh, fellow associates of Napalm Death, before concluding with the thirteen-minute ambient and trance piece titled “Sea of Tranquility.” Seven years afterward came Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth, also known as B.I.B.L.E., which preserved the industrial components yet shifted toward a rock-oriented foundation; in place of the Obituary contributors appeared vocalist Christopher Lamouret, session guitarist Russ Russel, Napalm Death bassist Shane Embury, and Benediction drummer Ian Treacy. Across its existence the project staged only two live performances, and Harris, still deeply involved with the enduring Napalm Death, has shown no indication of reviving the endeavor.
