Biography
Brutal Truth, the New York grindcore primitives, came together in 1990 with an initial lineup that included vocalist Kevin Sharp, guitarist Brent "Gurn" McCarthy, bassist Dan Lilker, and drummer Scott Lewis. After inking a deal with Earache, they put out their first full-length, Extreme Conditions Demand Extreme Responses, during 1992, at which point Rich Hoak stepped in on drums for Lewis ahead of the next effort, Need to Control, issued in 1994. A move to Relapse brought them back in 1996 via Kill Trend Suicide, and the subsequent year brought Sounds of the Animal Kingdom; two years after that, Goodbye Cruel World emerged as a double-disc collection of concert recordings and odds and ends. In September 2000, For Drug Crazed Grindfreaks Only! Live at Noctum Studios came out.
