Biography
California's Meow Meow craft a dreamy blend of '60s-style psychedelia and '70s-influenced power pop. Their first appearance came via the 2004 debut album Snow Gas Bones.
The effort originated in 1998 as a side-project pairing Pink Noise Test guitarist Kirk Hellie with Brian Jones Was Murdered guitarist Chris O'Brien. Once those respective bands dissolved, the pair shifted to full-time work under the Meow Meow name and recruited drummer Norm Block, bassist Michael Orendy, and engineer/co-producer Eddie Ashworth to finish the record. Steeped in Beatles-esque studio trickery, 1990s alt rock, and hallucinogenic dream pop, Snow Gas Bones appeared on Devil In The Woods in spring 2004. The EP Besides followed in 2006.
