Biography
The all-star metal outfit Metal Allegiance came together in 2011 around a central lineup of David Ellefson (Megadeth), Alex Skolnick (Testament), Mike Portnoy (Winery Dogs), and principal partner Mark Menghi. Their stated aim was to "unite a collection of hard rock and heavy metal’s most notable musicians in a setting born under one ideal, a love of music and performing." What began life as a covers project soon grew, with the collective and its rotating roster of prominent vocalists and guitarists staging a series of well-attended concerts that secured a Nuclear Blast contract and led the band into the studio. The resulting self-titled 2015 debut contained nine original compositions and spotlighted guest contributions from Philip H. Anselmo, Chuck Billy, D. Randall Blythe, Alissa White-Gluz, Jamey Jasta, Chris Jericho, Tim 'Ripper' Owens, Doug Pinnick, and Ben Weinman. Their second studio album, Volume II: Power Drunk Majesty, arrived in September 2018 and included vocal appearances by John Bush, Mark Tornillo, Max Cavalera, Trevor Strnad, and additional guests.
