Biography
Michael Dees embodies the quintessential lounge singer thanks to his ultra-smooth vocals and relaxed demeanor. The International Popular Song Festival honored him as Best New Male Singer in 1968, after which he contributed vocals to motion pictures such as A Walk in the Rain, Day of the Locust, The Happy Ending, Buddy Buddy, Sabrina, and Slow Dancing in the Big City. Two episodes of The Simpsons also featured his singing.
HBO drew on Dees’ skill at replicating Frank Sinatra’s voice during production of the 1998 original biopic The Rat Pack. After Sinatra’s estate withheld the original recordings, the cable network recruited Dees, whose performances ranked among the film’s strongest elements. He issued his debut solo album, One Single Rose, in 2002.
